Back to life... hopefully

Had a good two days here, last night I helped a friend, Jose, with a dance for the local teens - seems to have been a big hit with the kids and a few parents alike. I'm happy for him and them. Today I went to a friends' BBQ, he's with the police, a great guy, and has a fantastic home on a hill just north of the city. After the BBQ, it was off to assist Jose with an outside dance for adults; sadly it pretty much was a bust due to rain and winds.

After leaving, I went out to a place here that feels as close to heaven on earth as I've ever found, next to Mt. Haleakala on Maui. It's mile 329.8 Richardson Highway where it runs right alongside the Tanana River. There's a pulloff large enough a tractor-trailer or two could even pullover. It's also where there is a memorial for Ms. Davis and Ms. Brewer, two ladies who were killed when the car they were in swerved off the highway and into the Tanana in August 2005.

It's very quiet and peaceful, even with the highway traffic. I think that may be where I'd want to be laid to rest or my ashes scattered as it may be. It sounds funny to some, but I've spoken to my parents, my dear friend Enika, and God at that place. I just feel a connection there; who can say why or how. Afterwards, I drive back to town singing songs/hymns and feel better about life. Different or not, agree or not, it works for me.

I'm tired now - I should be, it's almost 5 AM - time to get sleep before church.
More later, LIVESTRONG!
